Synopsis:

Sometimes death isn't the end. Sometimes it's a beautiful beginning...

Death.

For some, it's simply one of life's certainties, nothing more. For others, it's merely a fleeting thought, one often overshadowed by the reckless delusion that they have been blessed with the gift of immortality.

For Aubrey Miller, death is the definition of her very existence. Overcome with the guilt resulting from the loss of her beloved family, she alters her appearance from the once beautiful, blonde-haired, blue-eyed little girl to that of one shrouded in complete darkness, enveloping herself in her own unbreakable fortress of solitude as a form of protection for others.

As she enters her first year of college, her goal is simple: Earn a degree with the least amount of social interaction as possible. What she never anticipates is the formation of very unlikely relationships with two people who will change her life in ways she never believed possible: Quinn Matthews, the boisterous former pageant queen, and Kaeleb McMadden, a childhood friend from her past who never really let her go.

Over the years, as their connections intertwine and grow, a seemingly indestructible bond is formed between the three...

But when death painfully reemerges, Aubrey is lost once again, burying herself deeper than ever before inside the familiar fortification of her fears.

Will the refuge of friendship, the solidarity of life-long bonds, and the power of unconditional love be enough to do the impossible?

Will they be enough to finally bring about...

The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller?

DeAnna's Review

*5 Very Heartwarming Stars!*

I had been dying to read this book after hearing so many people talking about it. I did not, at all, imagine that this book would be so beautiful!! I could not stop thinking about this book after I finished it. This book completely blew me away!

Aubrey is a broken girl who has created a whole new identity for herself and named her Raven.  You can tell deep down she longs to be who she used to be. Who she really is. Life has been so cruel to Aubrey that Raven doesn’t really see being Aubrey as an option anymore. She believes she is keeping everyone around her safe this way. As you read, you will learn more about why she feels this way. What she’s been through is truly heartbreaking.

Raven is on her way to college and little does she know, but she’s also on her way back to Aubrey. The characters that revolve around Raven are everything that she needs to become Aubrey again. From her guardian, Linda, to her roommate, Quinn, to one of her professors, Dr. Palmer. Each of these characters has a special relationship and play an important role in Raven’s life. There is one more person that is very important in helping heal Raven. Kaeleb. This man is incredible! He is definite book boyfriend material. I could say so much about him, but don’t want to give away anything. There is a special connection between he and Raven that you will have to read to find out about. I will leave some quotes from him though.

“You’d be the exception, you know. With you, it would be real, not an escape.”

“These ties can’t be broken. Our bonds are secure.”

“I think some people are just inexplicably bonded. Drawn by forces beyond their own comprehension, they have no choice but to gravitate toward one another. Destined by fate to keep crossing paths until they finally get it right.”

L.B. Simmons did an extraordinary job creating and developing these characters. The dialogue  between each of the characters felt so real. I felt every single emotion right along with the characters. One minute you feel like you’re being swallowed by dark emotions and the next minute you may be laughing. This book is so moving and inspirational. It’s hard to find the words to express how truly beautiful this book is. This is a must read. I am HIGHLY recommending this one!!
