DeAnna's Review:

*5 Stars!*
Scarred Love is Book 1 in the Sulfur Heights Series. I discovered this novel during a free promotion for it. After reading the synopsis, I thought this kind of sounds like other books I’ve read, but I decided to read it anyway. This book was not at all what I was expecting. It was so much more!! It was dark, sad, beautiful, passionate and full of love.

The characters were not what I was expecting either. Different tragedies are what brought this unique family together. This book is Reggie and Darcie’s story, but we do get to know a little bit about the other characters too.

Reggie is the oldest of the Evans bunch and has given up everything to become the guardian to his 3 younger brothers when their mom died. One day, he just happens to be in the right place at the right time to rescue Darcie from the unimaginable horror she had been living.

Reggie and Darcie are in love with each other. Reggie has a few reasons why he doesn’t want to act on those feelings, but it upsets Darcie that he won’t.

The Evans family has many obstacles to face and demons to overcome in this book. One thing I learned from the beginning, is that this family sticks together and take care of each other no matter what.

M.S. Brannon did a wonderful job writing a romance novel with so more than just romance. It’s so far away from the playboy, billionaire romances by being set in the bad side of a city and filled with crime and drugs. She did an awesome job letting the characters describe life in Sulfur Heights and how to survive life there. She also made each character fiercely strong, smart and loving despite the environment they live in. The story flowed well and I liked how it ended. I highly recommend reading this one!
