Synopsis.

She’s too young for him.
He’s too good for her.
She seduces him away from the gentleman he tries to be.
He leads her to her own hopes and dreams.

Ryan Kavanaugh isn’t the kind of girl guys bring home to their moms. She’ll have sex on the first date, she’ll drop the f-bomb without a second thought, and she’ll answer the door in jeans and a bra.

Gabe O’Connor is exactly the kind of guy girls want. He’s a police officer and the classic good guy who takes his family’s opinions seriously and strives to be the best person he can be.

Two people in two different places in their lives, both being pulled in directions they don’t want to go. Ryan and Gabe both struggle with what they desire in life and in each other as well as what their families expect of them.

Sometimes, you have to think of yourself first.

*This book is intended for mature audiences.*

SJ's Review.

N'awww I loved Ryan & Gabe. Such a beautiful, heart warming story. I loved how it didn't have too much intensity.

Ryan is a 19 coming up 20 year old college student, who is as far away from home as she could get without her parents stopping her. She living off her parents, going out drinking and sleeping with whoever is willing. Ryan isn't sure what she wants to major in and to be honest her life isn't heading anywhere. Her best friend Viv is the only person she has who she can rely on.

Gabe is a 25 year old cop. He has his life set out infront of him. He has a family he loves and cares about. His mother is the one person he likes to impress and cares about her opinion. His life is where he wants it to be and he's quite happy.

When Gabe pulls Ryan over one morning after a heavy night of drinking Ryan conveniently has no pants on. Who goes out with no pants on? Anyway Ryan has a smart mouth and tells Gabe to give her a ticket.... so he does, then they head their separate ways. It's only when Ryan is watching Viv's boyfriend getting dirty with so whore on his sofa that Gabe is seen once again... Queue first date.

Ryan is bold, fun and outgoing that is what Gabe likes about her but he can't stop himself from thinking about that age gap between them. 7 years is a long time after all, but can he get past that and see her for the person she is rather than the age she is?

Fate keeps making these two cross paths, even after all the things Gabe has figured out about Ryan he still keeps coming back to her, he thinks about her when she is not around and keeps finding ways to see her. Ryan is the same she keeps thinking about Gabe and rather than a night out of drinking and sex she would rather stay in and watch a movie with Gabe. Could this be too good to be true? If it seems like it it probably is.

So Ryan's parents have always been disappointed with her, nothing she ever does it right. This has made Ryan insecure with who she is. She is confident in her self but she doesn't like what others think of her. Ryan is convinced she isn't 'meet the parents' material.

Gabe has had his fair share of bad relationships so winning his mothers approval of Ryan is a must. He won't introduce his Mother & Ryan until he is sure things with Ryan are the real deal but when paths cross Gabe's Mom isn't amused at his choice.

Ryan has never been in a relationship so it is all pretty new to her and she doesn't realise how Gabe feels about her, not really. Whats that saying? Let them go if they don't come back they were never yours? Yeah something like that. Anyway this saying plays a big part in this book with each person coming to realise how they actually feel about one another. It's actually the person you least expect that brings them back together.

Both Ryan and Gabe realise a few things about themselves and grow a little more into the people they're meant to be.

I really liked the characters in this book. Ryan, Gabe and Owen. I liked Owen he was cool. Oh and gramps! He reminded me a lot of my own Grandad <3

All in all this book gets a big 5 stars from me. It was a pleasurable read with a little bit of the naughty stuff thrown in, I am a sucker for a good love story and this was a great love story. A little drama not to much. Too much drama ruins a story, that is why You Before Me is now a favourite of mine.
