Synopsis.

She has been hurt. She has a past of lies, cheating, and pain. She has severe panic attacks when she’s in enclosed spaces, a side effect of a horrible accident caused by a man she thought she loved. Quinn Carpenter has a distinct type: bad boys with dark hair, dark eyes, and tattoos. Tyler, her friend with benefits, fits the bill perfectly. They have fun together and they both know that fun is where their relationship begins and ends.

Quinn’s life is exactly how she wants it until she meets Reed Porter, the typical pretty boy with blue eyes, blonde hair, and zero tattoos. He is the exact opposite of everything Quinn likes.

So why can’t she get the frustrating, preppy, blue-eyed Reed out of her head?

She isn’t interested in commitment. She doesn’t want a relationship. But Reed challenges her, he puts her in her place, and he makes her nervous. The confident Quinn is never nervous around men, so what is it about Reed that has her questioning everything? And what will be the side effects of attempting to juggle two men at the same time?

SJ's Review.

One day quinn would like what her best friend has, a baby, a house, a husband, but she wants to wait, she wants to find a nice guy who she can see in that picture with her but Quinn's type is Tattooed Bad Boys... not the type of guy you see having a family.

Quinn is out on her usual Friday night with Avery when a Blonde Nerdy looking guy approaches her. Reed Porter. Reed Ported is far from Quinn's type and she is the first person to tell him this. Little does Quinn know but Reed is a good friend of her Brother's. Awkward! When Quinn walks into her parents house hungover and groggy she is less than happy at seeing Reed sitting beside her brother.

So Quinn finds herself thinking about Reed more and more, the more she sees him the more she thinks about him, but he's not her type. Why cant she stop thinking about him? Reed is hot but

the complete opposite to what Quinn usually finds attractive in a man. He wears glasses, khaki pants, polo shirts and has no tattoos. Why is it whenever Quinn is with Tyler its Reed she is seeing in her head?

Quinn has a decision to make. Reed or Tyler? Safe or Dangerous? One night stand or Forever? Both guys want completely different things... well so Quinn thought. These arent the only choices Quinn has to make, when she starts putting her chosen guy in dangers way she has the biggest decision to make. Leave him and let him be safe? Or work through the problem together? Whatever Quinn decisions, will break someone's heart or possibly more than one heart.

I give Side Effects 4 stars. I believe this reason is simply the fact that I was anticipating something different, because I had heard great things about it and how many people cried hard and were really emotional throughtout but I didnt feel this yet I was looking forward to it. But altogether a great book, well worth a read!!

Kate's Review.

Firstly let me say how much I enjoyed this book. It's the first one I've read by this author and I can say it won't be the last. I loved it! This story centres around Quinn Carpenter. An English teacher whose prone to panic attacks and, as you read on, meaningless sex with Tyler, a member of a local band and bar tender at her local bar Strikers. Tyler is your typical bad boy. Dark haired, tatted with a sinfully sexy body and looks to match and fabulous in bed. Quinn has had a rough past which includes walking in on her boyfriend in a compromising position with another woman. So you can see her reasoning behind not wanting anything serious relationship wise. The set up she has with Tyler works for her. Both of them not wanting anything serious.

One night she is out with her friend Avery and meets Reed Porter. She is immediately put off by his"preppy" look and when he tries to strike up a conversation with her she shoots him

down and he walks away. She thinks nothing more of him until he's at her parents house the next day as her brother Grant's dinner guest and unbeknownst to Quinn, his being there sparks the beginning of her undoing. Reed is the exact opposite of her"type" of guy. He wears khakis and polo shirts, blonde hair and blue eyes and he challenges and annoys her.

There are some moments in this book that put a smile on my face whilst I was reading and forced a chuckle from my lips. Her interactions with Reed where brilliantly written and very entertaining. There were also a few moments where I wanted to reach inside my Kindle and slap Quinn! Honestly I've never come across a character who infuriated me as much as she did. My heart ached at some of her decisions and I found myself losing patience with her. But I knew she'd come good in the end and I want disappointed. I really did enjoy this book and give it a well deserved 5 stars. I'm off to download her other book Separation Anxiety.
