Synopsis.

SJ's Review.

Holy. Wow. This book threw me through a loop! From the first page I was pulled in to Kinley's story. Kinley was broken, you could tell this from the first sentence, a shell of what a women should be. She was scared, alone and damaged! When I say alone she wasn't alone. She had her husband, ahusband who hit her and emotionally abused her. Kinley had no way out. That is until the prefect stranger gave her an opportunity. The chance she had been looking for.

Danny knows that look.  He knows the look of a shattered women, and he can't help but try and save her. He wants to be the hero. He wants to save the broken beauty, who fascinates him from the beginning.

They say that when you know, you know-you know. That is what I believe happened with Danny and Kinley. No matter how torn up they both were, they knew together they made up the broken puzzle (maybe reword this: they knew together they could fit their pieces back together to form their misshapen puzzle). Seperate they were nothing but shell's of the people they could be, but together they were unstoppable.

When Danny offers to help Kinley and get her away from her abusive relationship, Kinley can't accept. She is scared of what Jeremy will do. She has never been on her own. First her parents were by her side, then they handed him over to Jeremy. . . not knowing what that man was capable of.

The relationship Kinley had with her parents was one to admire. The love they had shone brighter than any relationship i've ever read about. Her parents were her world, and she theirs. That was until one fateful accident ripped them from her. Leaving her in the clutches of Jeremy and his wicked ways.

“More than the moon and the stars.”

Lets fast forward and Kinley escapes. Yes, she escapes from the prison and rigid schedule her husband demands of her, and breaks free. What does she do from here? She has never had to fend for herself, she has always had someone by her side to help in the decisions she has to make.

Introducing Lu. Lu and Kinley meet on the plane when Kinley escapes. These girls don't hit it off straight away, but after a while you can see a bond appearing. Eventually you see that Kinley uses Lu as her rock. Lu teaches Kinley how to escape her thoughts and let go of her past. Tattoos. Tattoos are the key.

Kinley finally gets the news she is awaiting and can finally start to live a free life, a broken but free women. She has to rediscover who she is, as Jeremy stole her independence and her identity as an independent woman. It's time for Kinley to explore the world and all that she can be. Shes always wanted to work with children, but she likes to help people in general. After being through what she has, has she still got the strength to lend a hand to someone else in need?

Lu and Kinley eventually parts ways and the road leads Kinley to Danny.

Danny is shocked to see Kinley again after all this time, but he is more than relieved that she is okay. Aside from a few phone conversations when she has been stuck in a dark place, Danny hasn't seen Kinley since he gave her an out in the gym in a New York hotel. Was it Fate that put Danny in the same hotel in which Kinley works out every morning?

Danny offers Kinley a place to stay, and she's very appreciative of this. After realising who Danny actually is, she starts to worry that she may not be good enough to be around him and his 'family'.

Danny has a lot going on in his personal life at the moment. A crazy ex wife, a busy work schedule and a new found baby. It's Kinley in which he turns for advice and guidance. How can Kinley say no after all he did to help her?

After the first chance meeting, these two knew their lives were never going to be the same, but whatKinley ends up with is far from what she assumed her life would be like. Is it all for better or worse?

Danny never expected helping the beautiful broken girl at the gym could end this way. Has he bitten off more than he can chew?

This book pulled me in, wrapped me about its pages and gripped me until the very last word. It is more than deserving of the full 5 stars I am giving it. Brandace has done a cracking job on Kinley & Danny's story. The twists and turns this book weaves, took my breathe away. I'm normally quite good at predicting where a book is going, or what the book is hinting at, but this.....this one got me! This is definitely the best book I've read in a few months, and for that I am making it the Book of the Month. As for Danny, he is high up on my book boyfriend list and Kinley on my female list! She's a fighter. After all she has been through, she is such a strong women. You can see the cracks are not fully healed and will take a lot to disappear, but to go through what she did and come out the other side is amazing. Domestic Violence is very close to home and I was worried about reading this book, but it made it smile! There is justice in the world, you just have to be looking in the right places, never turn down help when it is offered. If This book helps just one person speak out, I will not be shocked! Brandace touches greatly on violence and gets the aftermath straight on the head.

I've read many book about violence and they have all gotten over things afterwards too quickly, but this was very true and very life like. Amazing work by an amazing author. I for one will certainly be looking out for more of this author's work!!
