First Impressions ***

I was skeptical about this book in the first few chapters, Duncan is a nice, decent, sexy guy who returns home from war only to find his Wife in bed riding some other guy.. gut wrenching for him but it isn’t long before he finds his ‘one’ so at this point I am thinking…. ‘Hmmm well this is going well, he’s found his girl & now they will live HEA’...WRONG!!

Final Impressions - Review *****

I ALWAYS write a first impressions chapter but i generally don’t post it in my final review because it normally isn’t far off the mark but this time I was HUGELY wrong & I’m happy to admit it.
Firstly. One thing I was write about was the fact that Duncan is a nice, decent, sexy guy but what I missed out was he was a true gentleman, a heart of gold & a friend any person would wish for. He was loyal, trustworthy & honest.

Rubin was his best friend, but not only that, his Brother in arms. They tours together, they lived together & they played together ;)
Rubin is one funny son of a bitch. A randy bugger but a funny one. I called him Randy instead of Rubin, he was always sticking his wick wherever he could find that was willing.

Jessica & Simone. Sisters by blood.
Rubin & Duncan. Brothers by love.

Duncan & Simone, hit it off from the get go. They both had the sensitive, caring, i’ve been hurt before air about them whereas Rubin & Jessica had the ‘let fuck’ air about them.
Both couples were ridiculously matched & I loved them.

Fast forward through time and there are plenty of bumps in the road for both couples… well if you can call what Rubin & Jessica are a couple…

Can either couple withstand the bumps?
Will Simone & Duncan put on a strong front and stand hand in hand together?

It’s Fate’s choice but path you take but it’s your choice what you do with that path.
Duncan may have had his heart broken but it put him in the best frame of mind he has ever been in. Not only is Rubin his Best Friend & Brother but also his Business Partner.

The story in this book was fab, not to predictable but not to shocking. I did at time sit there and think ‘this will happen’ & was gutted when it didn’t but it kept me on my toes.
This book was well written, and the timeline.. worked. Even though normally I don’t like books that skim years & span over a long time but this work, it wasn’t all happening in one year it happened over a long period. I would definitely recommend this of a friend that was looking for something different. I liked how the book wasn’t based around the typical Male & Female meet, fall in love, get married, have babies, have a few hiccups & live HEA… this book was more based on the friendship between Duncan & Rubin. Different, not the usual. I love an Author not afraid to do different & I can’t wait to get my hands on Rizzo’s story!

SJ's Review.

Now if you read my previous review 'The Duncan Peter Files' you would know I really liked this book... like loved this book! Duncan & Rubin were fabulous and the story was unique and different that is why I'm finding it hard to say this BUT I enjoyed 'The Rizzo Protocol' probably more than I like 'The Duncan Peter Files'. This is your normal boy meets girls, something pulls them apart and a little down the line they are thrown back together again, but what happens is what made it different.

Rizzo was a feisty teen recruited by Duncan & Rubin back in book 1 when they found she was the computer whizz behind a

case they were trying to solve, they couldn't not recruit her she was one of the best at what she did. Maybe, almost as good as Duncan, but not quite. Anyway after Rubin died it pulled Duncan & Rizzo closer there were like Brother & Sister.

So...
Now that Duncan has been reunited with Simone he feels he stood take a step back from the company for a few months just to get to know one another again, to spend time together as a family, so who better to take over his roll other than Rizzo?
There is noone he would trust in his shoes other than Rizzo, much to her complaint it is her who takes his place in the business, but first she must go through as make over, a wardrobe change, an accommodation relocation and must also have security detail with her at all times.

Rizzo is less than impressed with all this fuss and bother but she does get a new friend out of it all. Norri. Norri is her camp stylish, and he is so funny! He cracks me up, if you don't like camp then maybe you should read this book and if you don't just love Norri then you have problems, he isn;t annoying, just funny!

Fergal is the HOT security detail assigned to protect Rizzo but he is also the only guy that has claimed Rizzo's stone cold heart, but he is the reason she is broken, and he is the reason she doesn't commit. Can these two get their act together, admit they are in love with eachother & will always have feelings or will they fight eachother every step of the way.

Rizzo is about to go into battle. A battle of the heart, her hearts wants Fergal but her head is telling her no, its telling her to hurt him like he hurt her. The only thing is that she actually pushed him away, told him to go.

Will Ferg & Rizzo get their second chance at love or will all end with another broken heart? They have 3 months to sort their shit out, they best step to it!

Duncan reappears in this book quite abit and it likes when you see a family member you haven't seen for a while & they give you a huge hug. Makes you grin huge and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy! Duncan is my warm & fuzzy, he is a great character, a character you continue to love, not love like a boyfriend type love but a brotherly type love!! Yes I love him, he makes this book AWESOME....

Samantha's writing is different, I like it! Her books are always filled with twists & turns, and you can never predict what is happening, can never tell where the story will end. I honestly thought at the beginning that Rizzo would end up being with Newton....

I need more of Sam's work & I'm glad I have a few more books of hers to wade through before I start having withdrawal symptoms from her work. Never stop writing lady, you are GREAT!!

DRAGONFLIES Trilogy.

* This book contains Drama, Heartache and Mature content, intended for readers 18+ *

This is NOT a standalone book and it is strongly recommended to read books 1&2 of the trilogy.

SJ's Review.

This series just keeps getting better & better, if I was to go on how I feel about each book now having read all three all my ratings would change on the previous 2 books. Cousins is incredible. I loved The Duncan Peter Files, then when I read The Rizzo Protocol book I then decided that was my favourite, now I'm deciding Cousin is my favourite of the three.

Samantha's writing has improved a lot since the first book and it shows in Cousins. The way she writes & the way the story is told. Beautiful & moving. It gave me goose bumps & brought tears to my eyes.

As we know Simone is pregnant (happy dance). Duncan, Simone & Noah are moving back to London to be closer to Jessica, Alfie & Blackcard. As the boys get older you can see

the trouble maker of the pair is going to be Noah, he has his mums strong mind but he seems to have traits of his father in him, which is going to be good. Alfie on the other hand never knew his dad but he has Rubin running through his veins with a little bit of Duncan thrown in there too.

Elizabeth Louise comes along not long after the move to London and in an unfortunate way, as they welcome the precious life of a beautiful baby girl they say a heartfelt goodbye to Jess. In the opening of the story you see a car crash involving Jess & a very pregnant Simone and this happens to be the outcome of the car wreck. Leaving Alfie without a Mother or Father & Duncan with a heavy heart, how do you tell a 13 year old boy his Mum has gone to join his Dad & will not be coming home.

Well Jess has all this sorted, she leaves a letter for Duncan much in the way Rubin left a letter on his passing. Jess has thought about this day and what better way for Alfie to live his life other than with Duncan & Simone. Jess knows Alfie has only ever known Duncan as a Father figure & she knows there is nobody else that will love & care for him the way that Jess & Rubin would have.

This book gave me goose bumps, made me cry & made me laugh so hard! Spanning from the boys being 13 to the boys being married with children, from Lizzie Lou being born through to her graduating & getting married! WOW. Cousins is from a few different points of view. Firstly Duncan, then Alfie & Noah then back to Duncan at the end again.

The end of this book broke me, it was so beautiful. Beautiful & moving. It gave me goose bumps & brought tears to my eyes.

This book is full of action, drama & a heart full of love! This is my favourite of the three books & each book I've liked for different reasons, but each book has trumped the last.

One thing I loved about Cousins is the time frame. The time spans across 20 odd years & this works, rather than get 4 books over 20 years you've got it all in one book, you get the main aspects of life and the big events but other than that its a need to know bases. This works for me, because I love seeing a character grow & age rather than. Married. Children. The End.

All in all I feel like this is one of these series that will stick with me for a while. All the characters have clawed their way into my mind & even Rubin who died in the first book was still in my heart in the third book! Fabulous series... a series that will definately get a re-read from me!!
