I really liked this book.

 

Cam, Cameron Justice, is retired military. After an attack where he was stationed, and several comrades were left injured or deceased, him and two of his friends leave the military and start their own business.

 

While on leave from work, he crosses paths with Lacey.He knew something was off because of the baggy clothes and alert demeanor, he decides to follow her. That's when two guys try and steal her backpack and Cam comes to her rescue.

 

Lacey has had a crap life and after 5 years of keeping to herself, and constantly looking over her shoulder, she doesn't know what to think about Cam.

 

When he realizes that she is cut after the attack, he gets her stitched up. He has to leave for a meeting and asked her to stay until he gets back. On the drive back, he decides he needs her around. Realizing this, he offers her what she's been looking for- a clean start. He tells her he's going home to Arizona and that she will have a job, and a place to stay, if she comes. With hesitation, she agrees.

 

Cam is HOT! He's a brooding, strong, shell of a man because of a past, before the military, that was leading him now where. He has never wanted a relationship, because he doesn't trust them.

 

Lacey sees herself as broken, but in reality she is a strong and amazing woman.

 

When they are together, they don't feel as broken as the do apart.

 

During the week long road trip, they realize the chemistry between them is too much to ignore. So do they put their dreadful pasts behind them and take a risk on what they never wanted, or are their pasts too much to overcome?
