Synopsis.

When Sidney Chandler chooses to leave home she walks away from her life as she knows it... her family...

Him...

She stepped back, allowing them all to heal... move on... live without her...

Now at the age of twenty nine and almost a decade behind her, she is a master of disguise. Long gone is the timid girl who lived blinded by the ideas of love.

Until fate decides to intervene and the one man she has struggled to evade at all costs is pushed back into her life. He knows the real girl behind the façade, only he can pull her out of her self-imposed exile... breathing life back into her cold, protected heart.

Fate will do what fate wants and Sidney’s choices are no longer her own... but were they ever really hers to begin with?

SJ's Review of Adjournment.

Honestly I wasn't sure where to start this review, I had to give myself a few hours to think it over before I even thought of writing this review.

Simon. I really didn't like Simon or Sydney at the start of this book but as the story went on they grew on me.
The story behind the relationship between these two was great, I liked it. At the end Grams says something that makes me fall in love with Simon. I'm not sure if it was just something she said it if it was truth but what she said tugged at my heart.
Lexi, Jacob, Molly & Morgan know Sydney has a 'type' but Sydney likes to deny it. Her type is Simon. Always has been always will be. Simon was Sydney's high school crush who broke her heart at her own graduation party by kissing Sydney's so called best friend. Was he just an arsehole or was he doing it for her? Yes I know I know it sounds sadistic but she was giving up everything she ever wanted to follow him to college.

Sydney comes across as an uptight snobby bitch. I hated her I really did it's only when she is around Simon you see the real Sydney and no she isn't too bad she is just determined not to get her heart broken again, she doesn't trust easily.

The fourth if July weekend is a big part in this book. Being British we don't celebrate this holiday but I LOVE the passion and the love Americans have for this holiday. It always makes me smile reading about it. I have a lot of American friends and I love seeing them talk about it. This book made me smile when I realised it was set around July 4th weekend. Adjournment is like a massive game of cat and mouse between Simon and Sydney, and this I loved. I thought it was fabulous how this feisty female wasn't afraid of going up against Simon and calling him shot for shot!!

I hadn't previously read any books by this author but now I'm determined to read more of her book. A fabulous writing style, fabulous story. This book made me laugh so hard, I had tears in my eyes at a few times. I'm giving Adjournment 4.5 stars!!

About the Author.

Emersyn Vallis is a first time author with Adjournment being the first book in the Fated Series. Currently residing on the east coast with her husband and three children she is typically mistaken for being quiet and reserved her friends often describe her as a spastic spider monkey and always the first to be there with her quick wit to pull you back up when you’re feeling down. After reading as a hobby for most of her life it wasn’t until she had discovered R. L. Mathewson’s ‘Neighbor from Hell Series’ and Tara Sivec’s ‘Playing with Fire Series’ that she came up with the idea to fuse comedy and suspense together and her passion for writing was born.
